What is a Treegator®?
Treegator® is a slow release watering system for newly planted trees. The Treegator® Jr. Pro slowly and evenly delivers a high volume of water directly to the root system of a newly planted tree or shrub with no run-off or evaporation.

Why use a Treegator® Jr. Pro Slow Release Watering Bag?
Experts agree - deep watering is the best way to reduce the effects of transplant and drought shock in new plantings. The problem is, that watering by hand with a hose or sprinkler - even on a frequent basis - is insufficient. That's because most of the water applied is lost due to run-off or evaporation, thus not allowing for the water to penetrate deep enough into the soil to properly saturate the root zone.

Treegator® is designed to properly water a newly planted tree or shrub by slowly and evenly providing deep water saturation directly to the root zone, with no run-off or evaporation - Every time. With Treegator®, there's no guesswork. Just fill the bag once a week... that's it. You'll water your trees and shrubs more efficiently and effectively than conventional watering methods and spend significantly less time and effort doing it.

Will Treegator® Jr. Pro work for my new tree or shrub?
Treegator® Jr. Pro is ideal for watering trees or shrubs up to 5" in caliper (trunk dia.) with branches beginning at least 6" from the ground or higher. When Treegator® Jr. Pro is used with mulch, its shape and color make it almost invisible.

How is a Treegator® Jr. Pro installed?
Installation is easy and requires no tools! Just place Treegator® Jr. Pro on level ground around the trunk of a new tree or shrub, fill it with water, and walk away! For step-by-step installation pics, click on "Image Gallery" near the top of this page, or view the Demo Video near the bottom of this page.

Unlike other watering systems, when you use a Treegator® Jr .Pro watering bag, there are no trenches or holes to dig, and no stakes or spikes to drive into the ground. Treegator® saves time, water and money!

How long does it take for Treegator® Jr. Pro to empty?
A Treegator® Jr. Pro continuously waters a newly planted tree or shrub for approximately 5 to 8 hours, providing deep water saturation in a single application with little or no run-off.

How often does Treegator® Jr. Pro need to be filled?
Refer to the charts below for a recommended watering schedule, being sure to note the following qualifications:
Recommendations are based on a commonly referenced guideline of 10 gallons of water applied per 1" of tree caliper*

Treegator® Jr. ProTrunk Caliper
(diameter)
Recommended
Fills per Week
15 gallon capacity
(56.78 liters)
1 to 2 inch
(2.54 to 5.08 cm)
1 Fill per Week
2 to 3 inch
(5.08 to 7.62 cm)
2 Fills per Week
4 to 5 inch
(10.16 to 12.7 cm)
3 Fills per Week
Note that during especially dry and/or hot periods of weather, these watering schedules may need to be increased. Also, trees and shrubs planted in sandy or porous soil should be watered more frequently. Conversely, during periods of rainfall / high moisture, a Treegator® Bag should be filled less frequently*.

*Proper watering frequency can vary depending on several factors (tree and soil type, weather, etc.) This recommendation will NOT guarantee that your tree is being watered properly - Use it only as a guide. Consult a local gardening or tree care professional for more information on proper watering practices for your particular tree type and region.

This is a great time saver AND I know how much water my tree is getting. It works much better for me than just leaving the hose at a trickle for however long the garden center suggests.

I bought a Tree Gator from Red Mill Nursery at Durham, NC Apparently I got an older model as mine doesn't have the tab by the filler. It is not easy to fill because you have to hold it by the rubber closing cap. I would like to see a molded rubber tab with the filler that you could hold with thumb and finger while filling and closing the filler.

I found the three bags I purchased to be almost totally useless in this area. The instructions say that they must be used in a level location - I wish I had realized that level meant table top flat With the slightest slope, the bags do not drain fully. I would never recommend the Treegator Jr. to anyone.

we picked up three of these for a few "runt" trees which haven't had much growth for various reasons -- beetles, a fungus, a transplant -- and though we've only had the chance to fill them up a few times given the local weather, we have noticed obvious new growth and an improvement in height; we picked up the root stimulant pouches which we use with them as well -- so far, they've all proven to be good investments

Rating Treegator is saving my trees

The biggest bummer with gardening is when you spend your hard earned money on a tree and it dies because of lack of water. The Treegator is great. I fill it once or twice a week and do not have to worry about runoff from the hose. And just having it around my tree reminds me to fill it up. I know that I will be getting more Treegators as I have some apple trees to plant this fall. I wish I would have found them years ago!

I saw TreeGator at a Mississippi state park and ordered 2. They saved several plants & trees for me. I have a large tulip tree that was stressed so I zipped two Gators together when watering the tree. My tulip tree bloomed in August which is very unusual. I also saved 2 dogwood trees that look great this year. I bought 3 additional Gators this year; 2 are the smaller flat ones. I am using them around hydrangea bushes that the leaves were dying. The hydrangeas look great.
